Tips to Achieve Self-Mastery
Self-mastery is a combination of self-control and self-discipline and help you shift from chasing pleasure to pursuing fulfillment.
However, becoming good at anything takes time and repetition. It takes 21 days to form a habit and master an action.
What is self-control? Self-control is when you don’t do what you should not do.
What is self-discipline? When you have self-discipline, you do what you don’t want to do, but know that you should do it.
Responsibility is the foundation of self-discipline, but self-discipline starts with self-control.
Your habits and routines create your self-control. Patterns of behavior lead to self-control, whereas individual actions do not. When you create habits you are automating reaching your goals. Habit help you with your “if-then” plans and lets them work on auto-pilot.
Allow your goals to guide your choices and self-monitor your habits and actions. Self-monitoring is a form of feedback that motivates you. Being motivated gives you a bigger chance of achieving your goals and gives you the self-confidence that will carry you through difficulties and strengthens your willpower.
