How well do you understand yourself? How often have you wished that you could change your thoughts and yourself and become more successful? Are you standing in the way of your success?
I imagine that you have tried many different methods only to discover that you could not sustain any of them long term.
You just want a method to help you instantly know when you are off track and guide you to make adjustments.
I discovered that implementing this thought works very well both in your personal and your business life and is very often overlooked.
The 4 Agreements
“DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.”
This quote is from the book The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom. I highly recommend this book.
Just as you should not take anything others say personally, you should also not believe your own thoughts. This method is called “The Work“ by Byron Katie.
Ask yourself what would happen if you would stop believing your own thought?
The Four Inquiry Questions
I discovered that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, but that when I didn’t believe them, I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that. I found that suffering is optional. I found a joy within me that has never disappeared, not for a single moment. ~Byron Katie
This method consists of “4 Inquiry Questions” you ask yourself. Everything you see and experience is put in the form of four questions:
- Is it true?
- Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
- How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought?
- Who would you be without that thought?
Turnarounds: Could the opposite be as true? (There may actually be several opposites, or turnarounds, to the original thought)
Byron has a detailed post on her website of how to ask the 4 questions.
I found this video by Byron Katie on Facebook where she explains how the method works.
Check out Byron Katie’s books to get a better understanding of Byron Katie The Work.
Have you ever heard of these 2 methods? Have you every used either or both?
Do you have any questions? I would love to hear from you.
