If you find yourself procrastinating and always coming up with excuses, maybe it is time to ask yourself some questions. You want to come to the reason behind your procrastination.
The first question to ask yourself is to find out if that task really has to be done?
If the task is not of high or any importance at all, remove it from your to do list and let it go. A this moment it is a waste of your time.
Next ask yourself if you are putting off doing the task because you don’t know how to do it?
If that is the case, it is time to find out what skills and knowledge you are missing. Start brainstorming and do a quick Google search for tips, books, webinars and instructions for the know how you are looking for. Don’t forget to also ask friends and acquaintances who might be able to assist you.
Also consider if it would be better to outsource the task and have somebody else do it, rather than struggling yourself. This question goes together with the next one to ask yourself: Am I not doing it because I hate doing that particular task?
As a small business outsourcing might just not be in your budget, but think about it for a minute. What is the cost to you and your business when you are procrastinating and wasting your precious time over being frustrated of not getting the task done? Weigh one against the other, it will help you see the big picture.
