If you feel that you don’t have enough time in a day to do everything that is an indication that you don’t have clearly defined priorities.
If you are madly off in all directions, you respond to other people’s priorities and not your own.
These quotes nicely explain why having your priorities straight are so important.
“If you have more than 3 priorities, you don’t have any.” ~Jim Collins
“Deciding what not to do is just as important as deciding what to do. It’s true for companies and for people.” ~Steve Jobs
“Success has less to do with what we can get yourself to do and more with keeping yourself from doing what you shouldn’t.” ~Kenneth Cole
“There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.” ~Peter Drucker
“You have to do what you HAVE to do before you can do what you WANT to do. It’s called priorities.”
“Action expresses priorities.” ~Ghandi
Are you crystal clear on your priorities and dread to say no?
Brian Tracy’s Recipe to Say NO
Brian Tracy has a gentle way to let people down. Here is his recipe on how to say, “No, thank you.”
“I appreciate you thinking of me. Right now I cannot make it. If that changes, I will let you know.”
Keep a piece of paper with your 3 goals or priorities in front of you at all time.
- Then every time something new comes up judge it against your priorities.
- Does it fit in or not.
- If yes, the great integrate it.
- If no, put it in a list for future action so that you will not forget it.
